Sail Manitoba and Fort Whyte Alive have teamed up to offer sailing lessons within the city at the Winnipeg Sailing Centre.
The small lakes at the Sailing Centre provide an excellent venue for safe and exciting sailing. Sail Manitoba aims for safety while sailing. Our instructor/student ratio is 1:6 and lifejackets, which are provided, are mandatory while on and around the water, and we also have a number of helmets available for our students. Our certified instructors will always be close by either in a coachboat on the water or on shore, depending on the skills of the sailor. Refund Policy Cancellations made up to 14 days in advance – 90% refund Cancellations made up to 5 days in advance – 50% refund Cancellations made with less than 5 days in advance – No refund In order to request a refund, please contact Sail Manitoba at sailing@sportmanitoba.ca or 204-925-5647 with the order number and registrant name. A camp for beginner sailors wanting to familiarize themselves with water and sailing. Our goals are having fun, along with being comfortable and safe on and off the water!
The course is delivered in Optimist Prams. Sailors sail 2 to a boat.
Course runs from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm, A fun introduction to sailing for kids ages 5 to 8 years old!
CANSail levels 1 and 2 programs taught in Optimist for beginner sailors for ages 8 -13.
Sailors will learn the basics of water safety, seamanship, and intro to dinghy racing over the course of the program.

High school students come out to compete for the Championship Cup!
Participating in the Championship is not just about the thrill of competitive racing; it's about the pride of representing your school and the potential to bring home the Championship Cup! Teams, ranging from beginner to experienced sailors, will compete over four nights of intense racing, culminating in the championship race on Thursday, June 26th. The winners will not only earn a banner for their High School gymnasium and a t-shirt but also the honor of having their team name engraved on the High School Championship Trophy.
The Championship will be a well-organized event, with the league split into two groups. The groups will each receive 2 weeks of coaching before competing in heats. The two best boats from each group will have the chance to race for the Championship Cup!
The groups will meet on the following days:
No experience is required, and lifejackets are provided. All you need to bring is yourself, a friend, clothes, and shoes you are prepared to get wet in, and school spirit!
The aim is to complete 3-5 races per night, and the top two boats from each group will move on to the Championship!

Sail Manitoba would like to invite members of the 2SLGBTQ+ community to join us at the Winnipeg Sailing Centre at Fort Whyte for a chance to learn how to to sail! This course will run weekly on Fridays from June 6th to 27th, 5:30 pm to 8:30 pm. We have 8 spaces available for participants. Whether you are completely new to sailing or have sailed before and want to develop your skills, we can provide coaching to help you.
Our facilities at Fort Whyte use our double-handed Club 420 boats, giving participants an opportunity to learn how to be the crew or the skip. Our certified CANSail coaches can help you work towards your CANSail levels or just show you the ropes! We look forward to a fun month of sailing for all members of the 2SLGBTQ+ community.
